OUR STORY

The Shop at Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Prom Boutique at The Shop, started in a small office at the district 4 years ago as a place where homeless and deserving students and families could “shop” for needed clothing and food for free. In its 4th year it has grown to 2 stores now located at Lindsey Hopkins Technical College and last years served 2000 shoppers.

M-DCPS currently has over 8,000 students who are homeless or living in transition while attending school. Three hundred of these students are unaccompanied teen living on their own.  They are 17 and 18 years old living in shelters, couch surfing and often in in cars and other unacceptable living conditions.

Prom Boutique at The Shop

Prom Shop provides new gowns, shoes and all trimmings for prom for our ladies, our young men get rental of tux and all to complete their prom attire at no cost.  With the help of donors, we provide prom, gradbash and senior activity tickets for as many of our homeless and deserving teens as possible.  $300 sponsors one student and gives them a senior year to remember!  Instruction on how to donate are below.
